It’s Natural is a series of colored inkjet printed images altered with green pencil. The series of images are film stills subtracted from An American Family, the first reality show that aired in 1973. Throughout the show you follow seven different family members in their daily routines. In It’s Natural you only see the mother. She wanders through different settings: she holds the telephone against her ear in a hotelroom, looks into a swimming pool, she lays down in a garden chair or looks through a window, she passes by the outside of a building or looks through an opening in the wall. In each image something in the setting has been modified. An element has been turned green. It is as if that colored element tries to cover up something that is already present or it accentuates something that is not yet there. It is unclear whether the mother is aware of this or not.
