The song by Ann Christy is performed by the camera doll. An anthropomorphic assembly of the video artist’s own everyday tools, which have become extensions of themselves, and shape the artists umwelt daily. The song is lip-synced by the doll's solemn pair of hyper pink lips.
The darkly lit ‘body’ echoes the moment of its conception. At night, in a state between half-asleep and half-awake, between laptop cables, neverending playlists and abandoned screens. A hazy state that marks both an escape from reality and an escape inward. The familiarity of the four walls of the artist’s atelier closing in and thereby starting the journey inward.
This object as persona created during a period of isolation and disconnection inhabits that space of comfort and disillusionment. We witness a much needed public display of emotions.
